The First Lady of Fried Chicken!
Originally from Brooklyn, Shontez Morris was looking for a change of pace from the rat race and wound up in our little town. Since arriving six years ago, she may just be Santa Fe’s most varied Renaissance Woman. Taz is a painter and sculpture artist with six years in hospitality and a background in law enforcement who cooks the best damn fried chicken this side of the Rio Grande!
And, if you ever met “Taz” doing security at The Liquid Muse events, you know that she has the kind of graciousness that makes people actually THANK her after she’s cut them off from over-imbibing and escorted them out the door.
After overwhelmingly positive response from friends back in New York, she started sharing her fried chicken with Santa Fe buds… and was soon getting requests from friends of friends to make some for them. What makes it so damn delicious? Taz explains:
“My chicken is flavorful, crispy and all around AMAZING as it has the ability to bring people together….I joke around and call it my life saving chicken fried with lots of love!!! I offer my original recipe, spicy, lemon pepper, onion garlic and I'm debuting my chili lime and buffalo flavors.” Adding, with a wink, “You'll probably get hooked.”
If you want to order some for yourself, you will need to find Shontez Morris on Facebook. And, buyer beware – you’ll need to move quickly because she puts a cap on the number of orders she can handle. Here are ordering directions from the lady herself:
“I mostly post my advertisements on my FB page with my available menu and electronic payment options a few days in advance if my fry date. Send a message specifying your order, pay via available options to reserve your order and I'll specify pick up time and location on the day that I fry! Delivery not available just yet.”
