Vodka Gets Spicy: SKYY Ginger

Who doesn't love a little spice in their life?  I love using fresh ginger in my cocktails - alcoholic and nonalcoholic - to give a tasty drink an extra kick.  Ginger is one of the hot trend flavors, too, and increasingly ginger beer, ginger syrup and freshly muddled ginger are appearing as ingredients in alcoholic beverages.  SKYY vodka has taken it one step further and is rolling out its ginger-infused vodka this month! Look for it one a cocktail list or liquor store near YOU!  Here are a few recipes to get the party started: 

 

Sweet Heat

Created by Alex Straus of Suite 700 at the Hotel Shangri-La in Los Angeles1.5 oz. SKYY Infusions Ginger0.5 oz. Small, De-seeded Habanero Pepper Slice0.75 oz. Agave Syrup0.75 oz. Fresh Lime JuiceCandied Ginger

Gently muddle pepper slice in cocktail shaker.  Add the rest of the ingredients, with the exception of candied ginger, with ice.  Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with candied ginger on rim of glass.

Ginger Sour

Created by Adam Wilson of Beretta San Francisco2 oz. SKYY Infusions Ginger1 oz. Lemon Juice0.5 oz. Egg White0.5 oz. Maple Syrup

 

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass.  Garnish with twist of lemon.

 

Ginger Goddess

1.5 oz. SKYY Infusions Ginger

0.5 Fresh Kiwi3 Large Slices of Anjou PearChampagne (or Sparkling Wine)

Muddle kiwi and pear in a cocktail shaker.  Add SKYY Infusions Ginger with ice and shake vigorously.  Strain into a champagne flute and top with Champagne or Sparkling Wine.  Garnish with a slice of kiwi.

 

Ginger & Bloody Mary Ann

Created by Adam Wilson of Beretta San Francisco2 oz. SKYY Infusions Ginger4 oz. Tomato Juice0.5 oz. Lemon Juice0.5 Tbsp. Salted Capers1 Tbsp. Bacon Bits2 Dashes Worcestershire Sauce  

 

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake vigorously and strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice.  Garnish with pickled green bean.
