Dale from Kevin Haasarud on Vimeo. If you have not yet heard, the Museum of the American Cocktail needs our help! It is losing its lease and needs money – or an offered space – to keep going. This wonderful project is a collection of memorabilia from barkeeps and the liquor industry of years past. From bottles, to posters to glassware (even a full-sized replica of Jerry Thomas!), the Museum of the American Cocktail allows visitors to New Orleans to wander through the jolly journey of our trade.I have had the pleasure of visiting the museum several times, including the luminous grand opening, while attending Tales of the Cocktail over the years. It is such a labor of love created by many biggies in our industry – including Dale DeGroff who is doing his part to raise money by putting on a variety show of sorts called On The Town. Dale’s show has moved around the country a bit, and proceeds from it go to saving the Museum. Dale explains a bit about this in this video, as well as gives some great advice to up-and-coming bartenders.Meanwhile, if you would like to make a donation to the Museum of the American Cocktail, click here.Do your part to save a sip of history.
