I remember the day Absolut New Orleans launched at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, in 2007, right before absinthe became legal again. It was the first of their “city” editions featuring mango and black pepper. It was a big to-do. Last year, the second city roll-out was Absolut Los Angeles. Despite our hard partying celebrities, the LA vodka is infused with antioxidant flavors such as acai, acerola cherry and pomegranate. (Yeah, cuz we’re healthy like that out here on the West Coast.)
Absolut’s 2009 highlighted metropolis is on the Atlantic. I’ll give you another hint… a certain party, an infamous one, that did not necessarily include alcohol, took place there. Yep, Absolut Boston is infused with black tea and elderflower. And, its my favorite so far. I hate to admit that I’ve had it hanging around my “must review” desk for a while before I brought it out to play. However, once I did, I had a ball. I thought long and hard before I even began to work on a recipe to highlight and contrast with the flavors in the spirit, and of the ones I tested, I feel this one came out the best. The earthy tea and light floral notes while take a little dance with the anis aromas of the green fairy, otherwise known as absinthe. I hope you'll enjoy it too!
