Where Hollywood & Cocktails Collide

My pal Cheryl Charming aka Miss Charming™ says that cocktails in cinema have been around since Hollywood's humble beginnings.  However, it wasn't until after prohibition, the depression, and the beginning of talking movies that Hollywood glamorized cocktails on the silver screen, at celebrity studded parties, and famous restaurants and bars around Hollywood.

As a side hobby, Cheryl, who has been in the F&B industry since 1976, has collected cocktails seen in film for many years, and feels that Hollywood cocktail media of all kinds is very influential on the masses. "After all," she notes, "look at what James Bond did for the Vodka Martini in 1962 and the Mojito in 2002." She has some of her collection on her Silver Screen Cocktail page.

For the past 2 years she has been the Cocktail Film Fest host in New Orleans and is excited about this years event at Tales of the Cocktail called Hollywood Cocktails on Saturday, July 11 from 12:30 - 2:00pm in the Riverview Room at the Hotel Monteleone.  The fantastic panel, which includes Charlotte Voisey, Simon Ford and Marcos Tello, will be discussing Hollywood cocktails and Miss Charming will also be asking attendees fun Celebrity Cocktail questions from her new drink iPhone app, Miss Trivia.

While at Tales of the Cocktail 2009, you may also catch her at the Cocktail Carnival Happy Hour on Thursday, July 9, 2009 between 5:30 - 7:30 PM at the Presbytere and at several book signings in the lobby of the Hotel Monteleone signing her 9th book, Knack Bartending Basics. She resides in Orlando, FL where she maintains her website misscharming.com.
