Just in time for summer, the “blondes” have hit neighborhood bars and liquor stores around the country. According to brewmaster Kristi Zantop, “Beach Bum Blonde Ale is more than a seasonal beer – it has become an annual signal at the brewery that summer is finally here. Beach Bum’s golden color, malty sweetness and slightly spicy hop aromas are the perfect complement to a summertime afternoon.”
The color comes from a selection of pale and caramel barley malt brewed with imported Alsace and Hallertau hops, as well as Cascade and Willamette hops from the Pacific Northwest. The hops are not only to the brewkettle, but also to the aging tank, giving the beer a distinct aroma of floral and citrus hops.
Planning an alfresco dinner for friends? Kristi recommends serving Beach Bum Blonde alongside fresh salads; seafood with splash of lemon or spicy chicken Parmesan. The brewmaster babe also suggests trying Beach Bum with Chevre (goat) cheese, which accents the beer’s subtle malt flavors and pronounced hop profile.
Other seasonal ales from Michelob Brewing Co.’s series of seasonal offerings include: Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale, Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale and Hop Hound Amber Wheat.
